Some comments from our guests:

"Absolutely breathtaking property! Got to arrive to beautiful snow falling. House is fabulous and I will definitely recommend to anyone wanting a get away to nowhere! Thank You! The Nel Family" Jeff Nel, Sep 2016

"A well set up Bach in a beautiful setting. We loved our time here and will be back. On arriving to the main gate we were greeted by 2 deer. Stunning spot." Phillip Hemming, Sep 2016

"Beautiful and relaxing house!" Denise Valerio, Aug 2016

"What an amazing place! The photos really don't do it justice. If you want to be off the grid for a couple of days surrounded by forests and the sounds of nature then this is the place for you. Also such an easy drive to Whakapapa/National Park. Would highly recommend." Derryn Jakobi, August 2016

"We loved staying here, it was a very nice, well looked after property and it was a shame we didn't have our children with us as they would have enjoyed it too. Loved having the deer come over to stare at us and the view off the deck to Mt Ruapehu was a real treat!" Astrid Houlding, June 2016

"LOVED THE REMOTENESS OF THE SITE. GREAT TO BE BACK TO LIVING SO CLOSE TO THE ELEMENTS OF NATURE!"  Robert Watt, April 2016

"Great location, beautiful surroundings and fantastic house equipped with everything we needed." Rebecca Kendall, Sep 2016

"This is a remote location. It is so lovely to stay somewhere where you don't have to listen to traffic and neighbours. You wouldn't believe that this place is off the grid, it has been so well designed that you have all the luxuries of home and more." Toni McCarthy, Aug 2016

"The property is in a remote location but a manageable daily driving distance to the mountain for skiing (which was the main purpose for the trip) and National Park town should you wish to go for a meal. The house itself is very unique being completely off the grid and relying on solar and wind power, but with a group of 6 adults and 3 kids this wasn't an issue and it was a good experience being a little more conscious about daily power consumption (especially for the kids). We will stay again." Joe Telford, August 2015

"A fantastic property in a relatively remote location with easy access to hiking, hunting and fishing. Would work well for a family or a group. We'd have loved to have stayed longer!" Rob Commons, April 2015

"We literally stumbled across a treasure hidden away in Owhango. Beautiful and clean property. The owners have put a lot of thought into Wildside to maximise comfort. Breathtaking views- so serene and peaceful. We would love to come back and stay for longer. The home is equipped with so much to do that you don't need to go looking for things to do to keep you busy. Perfect getaway for anyone wanting to witness NZ's raw beauty, peace and quiet. Thank you so much!" Utkarsha Bhateja, February 2015

"Wonderful location in natural bush with an awesome view of Mount Ruapehu. The Bach is beautifully made with high quality appliances and finishes plus some great trophies and a pool table in the downstairs room. The natural bush is fantastic and the owners have gone to great efforts to make it suitable for some good hunting. All inquiries were answered promptly and the owners were extremely helpful and accommodating with all our requests." Andy and Glaudine Foote, January 2015

"Beautiful, quiet bush setting, well designed house. Everything we needed for a proper getaway from it all weekend. Boys had a succesful first hunt with a patient informative guide and are keen to do it again." Anna Humpherson, December 2014

"Fantastic, back blocks location with a view to die for."  Stephen Reynolds, October 2014

"Breathtaking panoramic views of ruapehu, tongariro and Taranaki! Perfect retreat and easy drive to the snow! Great for a small crowd!" Sallie Malpas, September 2014

"Stunning views of Mt Ruapehu as well as Mt Taranaki. The Lodge is outstanding and good value for money. Grant and Renate were very accomodating and excellent hosts. Thanks." Kurt Goulding, July 2014

"Great property, great hunting, both adult and child friendly. We had a lovely weekend. the eco property is very well designed and exceedingly comfortable with all mod cons. Very well resourced. The hunting was great and the hosts were so kind and patient with my kids, and gave them an excellent introduction to hunting, in a very safe supervised environment. Highly recommended. We are going back again soon." Jane O'Dwyer, May 2014

"We absolutely loved the place :-) It was everything we wanted and more. We enjoyed the peace, the fantastic views and the comfort of the house. Everything has been thought of - and then some. We didn't watch TV all week, we played darts, pool, read books, and went on wonderful walks with the dogs. Definitely a place to unwind and de-stress. I love the eco vibe of the house - it was great to be off the grid. We will definitely be back". Jill Albrow , April 2014

"Thank you so much for sharing your amazing slice of paradise." Martin Ward Handyman, April 2014

"Great batch, clean and serene atmosphere - good quality pictures.  Entertainment inside the batch awesome.  Our stay was way too short....will go back in a whizz! " Yolande Mathlay, September 2013

"The property was lovely - peaceful farmland, native forest, and amazing views of Ruapehu. The house itself was great - the photos don't do it justice. Two spacious and comfortable living areas, pool table, dart board, amazing entertainment centre, great kitchen, comfy beds, great drying room. What more could you ask for?"Nicola Sutich, September 2013

"Very accomodating people, top location, great views, amazing lodge . . . a real inspiration."Toni McCarthy, August 2013

"The property is an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle. The Bach is warm and well appointed and the views are simply stunning. Lots of opportunities to explore the acres of land and whakapapa snowfield is just over 30 mins away." Lucie Reece, August 2013

"This bach is a Getaway from everything! Almost 2km's on a gravel road away from the main road, it's hidden amongst nature.  It's absolutely stunning.  The pictures on the website don't do it any justice.  The minute you walk inside, you love everything about it and it's even better than what's shown.  Kitchen is modern and has everything you need.  The fireplace is very warm and you won't be cold at all. Big Screen is a winner with the awesome pool table.  I can't wait to go back ! Kids loved it " Christine Elgar, July 2013

"A great place to stay. Great having pool table and darts. Good to have a great night in and enjoy company in a wonderful atmosphere. Amazing view of Ruapehu from the kitchen / dining area." Prue Jump, April 2013

“Beautiful surroundings, awesome house, Great owners! Couldn’t ask for much more! Looking forward to staying there again!” Heather Bates, March 2012

“ The house is amazing and easily catered for 2 families. We were very lucky with the weather however if it had have rained there would have been plenty for us to do in the house. The kids had a blast and so did the grown ups! Fantastic location for the ski field will defiantly come back again. Thank you” Sara Andrews, July 2011

“ What an amazing and magical place! There are plenty of things to do if the weather is bad. We especially liked the projector and pool table. We all had a wonderful time and look forward to enjoying Wildside next year” Kelly Baya, June 2011

“Great sense of approach to the property over neighbouring farmland, then into dense forest – great cabin – well designed – excellent kitchen – great views – birds everywhere – easy access to local national parks – recommend day visit to mt ruapehu” Gary Warner, March 2011

“Awesome view, great place, very comfy!” Louis Ranjard, January 2011

“The bach was beautiful. It was clean, modern and luxurious and in a beautiful setting. Perfect for a few friends especially if the weather was bad as you can just hang out by the fire, play pool, drink and eat and enjoy the view from the dining room or deck. I highly recommend this bach.” Rochelle Kidd, September 2010

“Awesome spot – we used it for a skiing base – but if the weather had failed us the kids would have been happy to spend the days exploring and playing outside on the beautiful land! Wicked house….and location. Thanks so much. You have done a fantastic job up there!!!” Diane Smith, July 2010

“I hate to admit it but the thing I liked most about the bach was the projector for watching films and TV. The house was comfy and user friendly. Its location on the edge of ancient bush hiding deer and goats is great and the view of Ruapehu opens your eyes a little bit wider.
Things to do: Brave the cold at the last light and go out to look for deer. Plus all that guide book stuff.”
Simon Faire and Mary Faigan, July 2010

“A wonderful property and house. Comfortably housed 11 people and the facilities for a relaxing weekend away from the city. Fantastic views, and a great warm house. Would go back in a heartbeat” – Alistair Cockburn, June 2010
